6678 kHz and other interesting short wave HF radio frequencies.

When tuning around various short wave frequencies, I usually find something of interest to listen to. Military, shipping, aircraft, amateur, ham, pirates….there’s always something going on somewhere. Today, I came across something rather interesting on 6678kHz USB. The first thing I heard, which shouldn’t be on that frequency, was RAF Volmet, the aircraft weather station. Someone was relaying the station. Then I heard a siren followed by music! Next, there were voices, speaking French. More music, obviously French. As yet, I don’t know what the attraction to 6678kHz is. Why that particular frequency? I will be monitoring the frequency as often as I can.

Of Interest:
Russian language communications on the 2.920 MHz USB. Also on 2910 kHz USB and 2915 kHz USB. Plus, 2910 kHz USB and 2920 kHz USB are pirate frequencies for Russian speaking stations.
