The Bush AC34 is a classic British valve radio dating from 1953–1954, manufactured by Bush Radio Ltd. It is a handsome, mains-powered table radio from the period when wireless sets were a central feature of the British living room. Its design is typical of the early 1950s, with a walnut-veneered cabinet, a lighter wooden strip surrounding the four control knobs, a large loudspeaker behind a metal mesh grille and an illuminated glass tuning scale.
One unusual feature is that the AC34 uses valves with series-connected heaters but incorporates a mains transformer. Bush also produced the related DAC34, which was designed for AC/DC operation.
