The Cossor 385 is a British valve radio introduced in 1937 by A. C. Cossor Ltd, one of Britain's important early radio manufacturers. It is a substantial, upright wooden table radio, typical of the better domestic receivers produced just before the Second World War. Today, it is of interest to collectors and restorers of pre-war wireless sets.
The Cossor 385 employs five valves:
- 41MPG – Frequency changer
- MVS/Pen – Intermediate-frequency amplifier
- DDT – Detector and audio amplification
- PT41 – Audio output
- 442BU – Mains rectifier
This arrangement was typical of a good-quality superheterodyne receiver of the period.
The service manual for this radio is available in the Members’ Area.
