HMV 149 radio. Wooden cabinet with an amber tuning scale on the left, a two-part curved speaker grille on the right and three knobs below the scale

The HMV 149 is a British three-valve, battery-operated wireless receiver introduced in 1936. It’s an interesting example of a pre-war domestic radio, designed for households without mains electricity or where battery-powered wireless sets were preferred.
