Stella model ST110U radio

Stella ST110U radio. Brown cabinet with a cream diamond patterned front, a speaker grille on the left, a red eight-sided tuning dial on the right and two knobs

The Stella ST110U is a British four-valve radio dating from the late 1950s, approximately 1958–1960. It was produced by Stella Radio & Television Company Ltd, a British radio manufacturer associated with Philips.

It is an attractive example of a small domestic valve receiver from the period when transistor radios were beginning to replace traditional valve sets. The ST110U is particularly recognisable by its cream-coloured moulded front, patterned speaker grille and prominent red tuning dial.

The ST110U uses four valves:

  • UCH81 – Frequency changer
  • UBF89 – Intermediate-frequency amplifier and detector
  • UCL82 – Audio amplification and output
  • UY85 – Mains rectifier
